(First post in two months, go me! :-P) Okay, so a couple days back, we got heavy snow fall our way. Two days down the line, it's still there, thanks to constant below-zero temperatures. While it's nice to look at, one of the drawbacks of said snow hanging around for so long was made evident today. I had to head out this morning for a loaf of bread, and I soon discovered that walking along the pavement to the shops was a complete nightmare. The snow had been compacted down so much by other pedestrians that it had pretty much turned into ice. Extremely slippery ice, stretching all the way along the pavement. So I was slipping and sliding all the way to the shops and back again. Plenty of times I felt like I was going to lose my balance (or look like an idiot as I swung my arms to regain it). I was really lucky I didn't fall over! When I finally got back with the loaf, my parents wanted me to go out to get another one, since they saw they were on special offer. My reply: "No." Current Mood: cold

I think I sprained my ankle today. When walking out the back door leading from the kitchen to the garden, there're a couple of steps leading down onto the patio, with the fish pond in front. Well, I was carrying a basket of laundry out to hang on the line, when I noticed the water level in the pond was actually nearly a foot lower than normal, which is very bad for the fish. I must have been distracted by the sight of it for a split second, because as I walked out the back door, my foot slipped on one of the steps. I didn't fall over or anything, I managed to regain my balance but I hurt the sole of my foot as it clipped the next step down. After a short while, that pain faded, but some time later, it was replaced by a pain in my ankle that's still persisting. I hope it goes away soon... Current Mood: sore
